Rape (Dealing With It; Putting It Behind)
Scripture
Psalm 55:22,23 "Give
your burdens to the Lord. He will carry them. He will not
permit the godly to slip or fall. He
will send my enemies to the pit of destruction."
Message
This is such a violation of your heart and mind, not to mention
your body. How can anyone ever do to someone what they do not
want to be done to them? So many women have felt the pain of
rape. Then they try hard to put it behind them, without ever
dealing with what happened. It can not be done. You have to
talk about it. You have to cry. You have to get angry! So angry
that you could scream. And maybe you should. It's okay. Someone
took away your right to choose. But you can not let it destroy
everything you ever planned, or wanted to do or be in your
life! It surely is not worth you losing everything, your pride,
self worth, confidence, happiness, peace, joy and so much more.
So go ahead and cry! Be really mad at what happened. Seek
the help of a good Christian therapist if you need it. But
then you have to move on. Use your misfortune, as horrible
as it was, and share it with someone else who has been where
you are. Show them how you made it through this most difficult
and challenging ordeal, and let them know that they can do
it too! Turn this evil act into something powerful. Make your
mess an incredible message to all the women of the world. You
might need help doing this. If so, then reach out to the One
who knows exactly what you should do. Be still and know that
He is God.
Prayer
Dear Lord, Thank you for always being there whenever I need
you. And I need you now more than ever. Help me get through
this incredibly painful time. I don't want it to hurt forever.
I don't want my heart and mind to always be reminded. I know
You have a plan for me to use this misfortune for good and
to bring You the glory You deserve. Help me be a voice to those
who have been through this too, and give me the strength to
guide them to be better, not bitter, for it all. And Father
God, help me to have forgiveness. Don't let me be hardened
to Your Word. I have so much more to do in this life. Let Your
Voice be heard through me, even in my pain. In Christ's name,
I humbly pray. Amen.
